As part of the ongoing series of educational courses organized by the General Syndicate of Workers in Agriculture, Irrigation, Fishing, and Land Reclamation, headed by Engineer Eid Marsal, a large seminar was held to explain the new Labor Law No. 14 of 2025. The event was attended by 60 union members from various committees, along with several labor leaders. This seminar comes as part of the syndicate’s efforts to enhance workers’ legal awareness and clarify the significant amendments introduced by the new law to support investment and encourage the private sector by balancing the rights and duties of both parties in the workplace.

Key Features of the New Labor Law 2025:

1. Encouraging Investment and Protecting Workers: The law aims to create a stable work environment and attract investors through clear regulations, while ensuring job security for employees and prohibiting unfair dismissal except by court ruling.

2. Women’s and People of Determination’s Rights: The law focuses on increasing care for working women, especially during maternity and childcare, raising entitlements for people of determination and critical cases, and clearly defining wage and leave schedules, including annual, sick, and religious/national holidays.

3. Developing the Litigation System: Specialized labor courts have been established to resolve disputes, replacing the previous labor circuits in primary courts, which speeds up case resolution and achieves fair justice.

4. Alignment with International Standards: The law is consistent with the Egyptian constitution and international agreements, prohibiting discrimination and harassment in the workplace, protecting workers during company liquidation, and requiring employers to register all employees to reduce informal labor.

5. Employment Contracts and Wages: The law states that employment contracts should generally be open-ended, clarifies the components of basic and variable wages, and sets clear limits on wage deductions.

6. Annual Leave: The law stipulates annual leave starting from 15 days in the first year, increasing to 30 days after ten years or for those over 50, and 45 days for people of determination, with an additional 7 days for hazardous jobs.

At the end of the seminar, Eid Marsal confirmed that the General Syndicate continues to provide services and educational courses for its committees, protecting workers’ rights and supporting the union movement in Egypt. He noted that the new law marks a qualitative leap in balancing the interests of workers and employers in line with international standards.
